Finebaum Breeds Ignorance, Asshole Opinions

Finebaum > Phil Steele
This is why I don't post in July. (...or june, and so on) Two scoops of vanilla fluff from Paul Finebaum:
Written April 14, 2009:
Oct. 10: at Ole Miss -- Who would have ever believed this could be one of the top games of the year in the SEC? Could ESPN GameDay be at the Grove? Ole Miss has given Alabama fits lately, losing by 4, 3, 3 and 3 in the last four years. Are the Rebels finally due? With a veteran quarterback and emotion flowing faster than the bourbon in the stadium, the Tide better watch out here. Ole Miss 24-23.
And, Written July 14, 2009:
But there is a major problem for the Rebels and their quest to take on Florida in the SEC Championship Game. You can't get to Atlanta from Oxford. It's not going to happen.
Why not? Because they're Ole Miss.
That don't make NO SENSE! My thoughts...
Is this the best "argument" that a semi-thoughtful, college-educated Alabama radio host can come up with? ("Hmmm...what can I say today, July 14, to stir the pot?")
"Ole Miss will lose because uhh...Ole Miss is Ole Miss."
Brilliant! No facts, no annoying stats, No silly hard evidence. Just livin' in the past...Just like a surrogate Tider.
That's flimsier than Finebaum's journalistic integrity.
You think these 20 year old kids who raped and pillaged LSU and Florida on the road and beatdown Texas Tech in Texas give a crap about what happened in Oxford back in the 80s-90s? No. They care about beating ass.
Last year the Rebs lost four games by 19 TOTAL points. The only team that beat Ole Miss last season is Ole Miss (see 15 turnovers in 4 early losses) So, they minimized the mistakes, gained confidence (Snead: first year starter) and the 6 game winning streak was the result.
You know the difference between this Ole Miss team and the ones of Eli Manning? A legit defense. (Top 20 scoring Defense, 2008) And don't you worry about the Ole Miss defensive line...there's plenty where that came from. (see: 8 man rotation)
If you don't think Houston Nutt's record in big games bodes well for the Rebels in 2009, look no further than Ole Miss' offensive coordinator and former quarterback, Kent Austin. You think Saban works fast? Kent won the CFL Grey cup as a quarterback, as an assistant and as a head coach (in his first season as a head coach, anywhere).
If you looking for an "X-factor" to tell you why the Rebs will rise above Houston Nutt's previous successes, Kent Austin is it.
That, and Houston Nutt never dreamed of a QB as talented as Jevan Snead in the hill-country of Fayettenam.
Finebaum, if you want some more, you know, facts (crazy talk!) about this Ole Miss team to back up the hype, give me a ring. By the way, I love the fact that the only people doubting Ole Miss are SEC rival fanbases. It's certainly not the national media.
Y'all good-ole-boys ain't bias, is ya?

Hell, Finebaum said in his column Snead was going to be a senior this year. Good homework...
So, it takes some of Paul's best work to pull you out of hibernation? Maybe it's time for another guest appearance on his show.
Paul is probably to much of mouthbreathing shock nob to realize it, but this kind of thing sort of plays into Nutt's hands, giving his team the perception of underdogs, with an us-against-the-world mentality. I'll bet the Right Rev is laughing his ass off about it. He ought to send Paul a thank you card.
Finebaum is a shithead
